Think Global. Drink Local.

The Anheuser-Busch Brewery looms over south-city St. Louis, MO

I touched on the subject in my last post, but I thought I would follow up… in case you were wondering where all the good old “American” beer comes from, and what mega-brewery owns which beer labels, here ya go. Search through the list… you might be surprised.

Even the largest craft brewery, the Boston Beer Company (of Sam Adam Boston Lager fame) only comprises less than 1% of the U.S. beer market… less than 1%. Imagine, a brewery that uses real ingredients to make a quality tasting, award-winning beer, making up less than 1% of the market. Craziness. I might be preaching to the choir, but try expanding your boundaries and try something a little different… if you like Blue Moon, try a Widemer Bros. American Hefeweizen. If you like Killian’s, try a Fuller’s english bitter, or a Yuengling traditional lager… if you drink Icehouse, then there’s no hope for you and you should just cauterize your taste buds because you have no understanding of flavor. Because, remember… as “American” as Budweiser or Miller Lite is… they’re not even owned by American companies.

They can put it in all the American flag cans they want... but these "American" mega-breweries aren't even owned by American companies.
